Jude sets out our call when our world begins negatively affecting the church and lives of Christians – FIGHT. Now we’re not to fight in the sense of trying to bury them or knock them down, rather we’re to fight or “Contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” This faith is the Gospel, the Good News of new life and forgiveness of sins through Jesus. Jesus defeated sin for us once and for all. So Jude is urging that when facing a world that is hostile to us (and hostile to God) to Fight for the Gospel – Fight to keep the Gospel the main thing and that which is communicated clearly in and through our lives.
